Party Mix
1/2 c Butter
2 c Cheerios
1 tb Barbecue sauce
2 c Corn Chex, bite sized
2 ts Worcestershire Sauce
1 c Wheat Chex
1/4 ts Garlic powder
1 c Thin pretzel sticks
2 tb Sesame seed, toasted
2 c Mixed nuts
Melt butter in small saucepan; stir in seasonings and toasted sesame seed. (Toast seeds in a 350 oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown) Pour hot seasoned butter over dry cereals, pretzel sticks and nuts. Mix thoroughly until all pieces are coated. Spread evenly in a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1/4 inch baking pan and bake in 250 oven for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Makes 2 quarts.
Peanutty Party Mix
5 1/2 cups of Cheerios
6 tb Melted butter or margarine
4 tsp low-sodium Soya Sauce
1 cup Pretzel sticks
2 1/2 cups Salted Peanuts
1 tsp garlic salt
Combine butter, soy sauce and garlic salt. Melt in microwave and mix well. Pour over mixture and mix well. Spread on cookie sheet and bake at 250 degrees F. for about 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool
Curried Party Mix
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
3 cups Corn Chex cereal
3 cups Rice Chex cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzels
Melt butter and seasonings together. Pour over all the other ingredients. Mix very well. Spread on cookie sheets and bake at 250 degrees F. for one hour, stirring frequently. Spread on paper towels to dry.
Ham Roll Ups
1 pkg cream cheese at room temperature
1 jar stuffed olives drained and dry
1/2 lb ham cut into 1" X 6" strips
Spread ham strips on paper towel and cover with another one. Press lightly to dry. Spread each strip with cream cheese. Place an olive at one end and roll up. Secure with a toothpick.
Beef Roll Ups
1 pkg cream cheese at room temperature
1 pkg thin sliced beef cut into strips
6 little green onions minced, tails too
1/2 teaspoon fine horseradish
Mix the onion and horseradish into the cream cheese. Spread on the roast beef strips and roll up. Secure with toothpick if necessary.
A variation on this would be to mix 1 pkg cream cheese with 1 cup sour cream and a dash of Tabasco sauce, then stir in chopped meat and onion. Spoon into presentable heat proof dish, bake for 20 minutes at a 300 degree oven and serve with crackers.
Nuts and Bolts
1 cup butter
1 tsp. Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Garlic Salt
1 tsp. Celery Salt
1 tsp. black pepper
Melt butter and stir in seasonings. Mix well. Pour mixture over:
5 cups Cheerios
5 cups Rice Chex
4 cups Wheat Chex
3 cups thin Pretzels
2 cups salted peanuts
Mix well and put mixture in large flat pan in 250 degree F. oven. Sir often to prevent over browning. Bake 45 minutes then turn oven off and leave mixture in oven till cool. Mix can be recrisped by putting in a 200 degree oven for a short time.
Cheese Treats
2 green peppers finely chopped
1 cup of stuffed olives finely chopped
1 lb Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1 small onion, minced
1 clove garlic minced
Mix well together. Spoon onto Triscuit Crackers. Bake at 300 degrees F. till cheese is melted. Serve hot.
Stuffed Cucumber Slices
1 large package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup commercial sour cream
1/4 cup well drained, chopped sweet pickles
10 maraschino cherries, chopped
2 large cucumbers, peeled and the seeded centers scooped out well
Mix the cream cheese and sour cream till smooth in a blender if you have one. Fold in all the remaining ingredients. Dry the cucumbers with paper towels. Spoon the mixture into the cavities where the seeds were. Place in a covered container in the fridge till well chilled. About 2 hours.
Remove from fridge and slice into 1/2" pieces.
